About: JAS Associates

JAS Associates (originally JAS Consultancy Services) commenced trading in March 1996. JAS Associates commenced trading in October 2011.

As of February 2026, the Company is led by Ruth Slade and she is supported by the Partners who are John Slade, Ben Slade, Naina Chouhan and other specialist associates that we work with within the Security, Fire and Health & Safety industries.

Ruth initially joined as a trainee in 2016 and is a fully competent consultant in her own right and is a specialist in Management Systems (primarily ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 and ISO27001), BAFE SP205, Fire Risk Assessment as well as Security & Fire Alarm Systems. Ruth took over as Managing Partner in February 2026.

Naina joined us in November 2020 after running her own successful consultancy for the previous 5+ years and previously as a Risk & Quality Manager and trainer with the SIA. Naina is a specialist in Manned Guarding Services and Management Systems including ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 and ISO27001.

Ben, joined us in August 2022 after spending five years in a primary school teaching role post his graduation from the University of Buckingham and a further year at Roehampton University. Ben is a specialist in Management Systems primarily ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001, ISO27001 and more recently the new ISO42001 (Artificial Intelligence) primarily within Fire (BAFE SP101, SP203-1, SP203-4 etc) & Security Systems Industries.

All our Partners and our other associates have a wide range of experience in many industries and work with clients who themselves operate nationally and internationally.

The partners and our associates are fully competent and experienced in their field.

They are also experienced in the implementation of Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001 & ISO42001) and are qualified lead auditors. This experience is primarily, but not exclusively in the Security, Fire and H&S sectors.

John Slade

Senior Partner (retired)

John is the founder of JAS Associates and he spent the majority of his career at senior management levels within the security industry. After 58 years in continuous work and just under 30 years as founder and Managing Partner of JAS Associates, John has stepped down as Managing Partner and handed over the overall control of the company to Ruth Slade. John remains active in a back office support role with primary responsibility for company finance. Read more

Ruth Slade

Managing Partner

Ruth holds IRCA Lead Auditor qualification. She looks after a number of our SSAIB, NSI and 3 Core 2 clients undertaking the implementation and ongoing maintenance of their Management Systems. In 2018 Ruth also qualified as a Fire Risk Assessor and maybe is one of the youngest persons to ever achieve this formal qualification. With the retirement of John Slade , as of February 2026, Ruth took on the position of Managing Partner within the Company. Read more

Although Ben achieved his childhood dream of going to university, graduating and becoming a teacher, after 5 years of teaching decided he needed new challenges and we are very pleased that he decided to join the JAS Associates Team. Naina Chouhan

Partner

Naina spent over 10 years with the SIA contract managing the external assessing bodies, training independent assessors and improving customer services. Naina left the SIA in 2016 to become an freelance auditor and joined JAS Associates in November 2020 as a partner. Naina has brought a wealth of knowledge to JAS Associates within the manned services sector and primarily supports our clients in the manned services industry to maintain their SIA ACS accreditation, associated British Standards and Management Systems Certifications. SSAIB first engaged John in 1999 to assist in the development of the procedures required to achieve UKAS Accreditation as a Certification Body. JAS Associates have provided Security by Design with comprehensive quality management and health and safety consultancy services since 1999, during which time our business has grown and changed a great deal. JAS has been able to tailor its services to meet our needs at all times. Our relationship started when JAS assisted us in gaining ISO 9000 accreditation and put in place a quality management system which was appropriate to our business and has proved to be a valuable tool for our long-term growth. Over the years, we have also successfully achieved many other quality standards and accreditations with the assistance of John and his team. With JAS assisting our quality management is was an easy decision to extend our relationship into the health and safety sector. JAS provide us with a total health and safety service including consultancy, risk assessment, training and advice.
